at the Amato Opera
Giuseppe Verdi's Il Trovatore

Sunday April 6, 2008 2:30 pm

Saturday April 26, 2008 7:30 pm

-I will be playing principal flute in Verdi's great opera in 4 acts, Il Trovatore, based on the play by
Antonio García Gutiérrez, set in the early 15th Century, Spain. Come and discover the dramatic subplots and Verdi's beautiful music!!!

Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901)

Adelina Patti (1843-1919) as Leonora
- She is generally considered
to be the greatest soprano
in operatic history

Legendary Italian tenor
Giovanni Martinelli (1885-1969)
as Manrico

Great American contralto
Louise Homer (1871-1949) as Azucena

"King of Baritones" Mattia Battistini (1856-1928)
- not quite as Conti di Luna. I could not find the exact picture of him in the role. This is Battistini as Posa in Verdi's Don Carlos)
