-Renowned harpsichordist Arthur Haas gives an intimate recital performing works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Böhm, Jacques-Martin Hotteterre, and Jean-Philippe Rameau in the lovely home of Katharina Pistor and Carsten Bönnemann. Mr. Haas will be playing on a beautiful Flemish harpsichord owned by Katharina and Carsten. This instrument will permanently move to Washington D.C. after this performance, so make sure you don't miss it. Also joining in the recital will be AVLA HARMONIÆ; Martha McGaughey (viola da gamba) and Sang Joon Park (traverso).

The instrument:
A copy of an instrument built by Ioannes Ruckers (1578-1642) in 1624 and later updated into a petit ravelment most likely by Henri Hemsch (while leaving the corpus of the instrument intact, more keys and strings were added and the tuning of the lower 8 foot was changed, which in the Flemish instruments was a fourth lower than the upper 8 foot, tuned at 415). The original instrument is located in the Museum "Unter den Linden" in Colmar, France. A picture of that instrument can be found at:
