AVLA HARMONIÆ
The instrument:
A copy of an instrument built by Ioannes Ruckers (1578-1642) in 1624 and later updated into a petit ravelment most likely by Henri Hemsch (while leaving the corpus of the instrument intact, more keys and strings were added and the tuning of the lower 8 foot was changed, which in the Flemish instruments was a fourth lower than the upper 8 foot, tuned at 415). The original instrument is located in the Museum "Unter den Linden" in Colmar, France. A picture of that instrument can be found at:

Our third and last concert, by the invitation of Universidad Católica de San Pablo, was held in the magnificent Pinacoteca of the Monasterio de Santa Catalina in the city of Arequipa (12 May 2010). Santa Catalina is a beautiful cloistered convent first built around 1580 and expanded through the centuries. My friend and recorder soloist Alejandra Lopera-Quintanilla is responsible for this incredible journey. It was a truly special experience performing in such a venue. Please visit Santa Catalina's official website: http://www.santacatalina.org.pe/
