Jason Priset (Baroque guitar/Theorbo)

-The Soul's Delight celebrates both the early and the late Italian Baroque with beautiful music of Tarquinio Merula, Girolamo Frescobaldi, and Alessandro Piccinini of the 17th Century; and Antonio Vivaldi, Nicola Porpora, Domenico Scarlatti, and Pietro Locatelli, of the 18th Century.  One of the highlights of these concerts will be the New York premiere* of Francesco Corselli's Cantada de Navidad.  Originally written for soprano, chamber orchestra, and flute obbligato, this version was transcribed especially for The Soul's Delight by Sang Joon Park.

* This version of the Cantata will make this a world premiere.

I could read on your blog about your pioneer performance of Herrando Sonata on traverso and viola da gamba in January 2007. It is very interesting, in my opinion, to perform such music with only two instruments. Could you tell me, which exactly Sonate of Herrando have you performed with your Gamba player? Was it a special transcription, or just a bass part played? I would be thankful for any information. With best regards, Sergej TIkhonov, flutist. E-mail: tikhon29@hotmail.com
